The teacher

For twenty years I've been playing and studying the guitar. Once I'd finished my swimming exams, I got to pick an instrument. I've been holding on to it ever since.

In 2020 I graduated from the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen as a classical guitarist. I studied under the wing of Sabrina Vlaskalic and Goran Krivokapic and followed masterclasses by Leo Brouwer, Zoran Dukic, Aniello Desiderio and Marko Topchii among others. 

Currently I'm active in Dutch youth guitar orchestra NJGO on guitar and bass and as lead-guitarist in garage rock formation Plain Bizarre.

I've gathered a lot of knowledge over the years and I can't wait to share it!

The lessons

The lesson plan is designed based on the wishes and interests of the student. Classical, pop or rock? It's all possible. Interested in technique and theory, want to  learn how to accompany yourself or how to shred? I'm open to everything. Whatever we decide, the music comes first!

Lessons are taught in the centre of Leeuwarden. Rates are based on weekly lessons of half an hour, but bi-weekly lessons, duo lessons or longer lessons are also a possibility. Get in touch to discuss the perfect option for you!

Hi! I'm Tessa van der Veen, a guitar teacher and cultural entrepeneur in Leeuwarden.

As a guitar teacher I want to share my passion for both the instrument and playing music. Working on music is important for one's development, but also simply very fun to do. I love working on something and being able to look back and see how far you've come. I'd love to share this feeling with others!

As a freelancer I'm able to combine all my interests, from copywriting to projectmanagement and teaching music. I want nothing more than to contribute to the Frisian cultural landscape and talent development. It's that landscape that shaped my interests and ambitions, something I wish for each and every one of you.
